Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Not all National Trust properties are open yet, and those that are require pre-booking via their website, no later than 15:00 on the day prior to visit.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Castle Drogo

We’ll be staying open during the conservation work, allowing you a once in a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes. Wander around our stunning exhibitions which tell the stories of Castle Drogo and explore new rooms, never before open to the public. You’ll also be able to see the building work in progress from the viewing platform (restrictions apply), and get closer than ever before to our precious treasures, now displayed in brand new ways.Discover the beautiful Lutyens-designed terraced garden, the highest in the care of the National Trust, with dramatic views of Dartmoor. There’s plenty to see from the colourful rhododendron valley and rose gardens to the quaint Bunty House (Wendy House) complete with its own miniature garden.Below the castle you can follow the winding paths into the sheltered Teign Valley. Explore this ancient gorge, teeming with wildlife as you follow the trails along the roaring river.Recharge at the café with a traditional Devon cream tea or tuck into a slice of cake. At our gift shop and plant centre you can pick up a wide range of plants, books, cards and locally produced food.
